We spotted this mother Steenbok and her baby on an early morning drive. She was surprisngly relaxed, especially with such a cute baby by her side.Allowing us time to photograph her, it was the first sighting I have had of a baby Steenbok, it just shows how something new happens everyday!!!

Kudu bulls
Some nice Kudu bulls, known as the grey ghosts of Africa, they can be a challenge to photograph. These 3 were drinking at a small natural pan on The Hide's concession, excellent photo opportunity !
Danger.....
We saw these 6 Buffalo at mid-day, having a drink from the trough at Kennedy 1 pan. All old dagga boys, they are not to be messed with...
Kori Bustard
We spotted a pair of Kori's at Ngweshla this morning. This one decided to come check us out, nice and close for the Photo !
Awkward Drink
A Giraffe's life must be tough, having to go through all that effort to drink....
I photographed this one at Ngweshla Pan this morning...

So whilst at Makwa I spotted this Lilac-breasted roller, and manged to photograph it as it flew away !!
Busy Waterhole
Makwa pan was busy today with Zebra, Giraffe, Kudu, the resident crocodile, many birds and some beautiful Sable ...
Stretch ...
This Giraffe was stretching to reach some Acacia leaves. A beautiful dark male... These photos were taken near Ngweshla pan.
Tawny's
The Tawny Eagle is common in Hwange, these photos were taken on the Kennedy road, near Kennedy 2.
This was a mating pair, the male was the one hovering above. ( We presumed it was the male )

Elephant in sepia
I photographed this bull Elephant resting in the shade of an acacia tree, whilst driving on a loop road through the forest near Kennedy 2...
Where else ?
Leadwood, Acacia trees, and smoke from a recent fire create a beautiful sunrise..
Followed by a magnificent Sable Bull a Kennedy 1 pan....
Stripes...
Burchell's Zebra are common throughout Hwange, this photo was taken near Makwa pan..
In this photo taken from the main road to Kennedy 1 pan you can see The Hide Safari Camp in the background...http://www.thehide.com/
Sneaky Reptile
I photographed this Water Monitor Lizard on the sand road to Mbiza, he was trying to rely on camouflage to hide from us... It didn't work, so we were able to photograph it..
This photo shows a close up of his eye, tongue and massive claws, wouldn't want to mess with him..
A rare sighting
The Wild Dog or Painted Dog.... A very rare sighting, we were lucky to see them on the road about 6 km from Hwange Main Camp heading towards Makwa pan. If you have your own sightings or are just curious you could find out more on the Painted dog Conservation website...http://www.painteddog.org/. The tracking collars are attached for research purposes by staff of the Conservation center ..
Magnificent Elephants
Elephant population is know estimated at about 30000 and continuing to grow...
Sunset at Sinanga Pan, amazing at this time of the year !!

Hwange's smallest
The Steenbok is a graceful antelope perfectly adapted to the harsh environment found in Hwange. They are common throughout the park but I photographed this one having a bite to eat near Kennedy 1 Pan...
Running...
After their drink the Giraffes and Zebras decided to go for a run... Not sure what spooked them, but as with most animals if one runs everyone runs..
Awkward Drink
These 2 Giraffes were having a good drink at Sinanga Pan in the late afternoon light...
The Zebras were also joining the party...
A good shake
We watched as this bull Elephant shook a Camel-Thorn Acacia tree to feed on the pods that would fall to the ground... Great to watch the power of these amazing creatures.
Hwange's Birds
Grey Go-away Bird.
Cardinal Woodpeckers, one was feeding the other... Maybe a youngster..
Meyer's Parrots ..
All these photos were taken whilst I was waiting for guests at Main Camp at the bird bath. This can be very productive if one is patient enough to wait for the birds to come... Some amazing results...
Leopard morning
We spotted this female Leopard on an early morning game drive near Kennedy 1 pan.
My guests and I were very lucky to watch her for over an hour, in which time we discovered that she is pregnant!( You can see this in the above picture) Great news and an amazing sighting!
Hwange's Birds
Magpie Shrike. These are a common site in the park, often seen perched looking for insects... I have even seen them feeding on small mice !
Cape Glossy Starling. A stunning bird seen in the correct light..
Red-crested Korhaan. Excellent camouflage makes these hard to spot, unless, as in this case, they cross the road...
